Safe drinking water is something many of us never think about. For millions of families in Pakistan, it is a daily struggle. Dirty water causes diarrhoea, hepatitis and typhoid, and it hits young children the hardest. Women and girls often walk long distances every day just to fetch water for their homes.
Sarwar Foundation's clean drinking water program brings safe water close to home, so that families stay healthy and children can spend their time in school instead of carrying water.
Our water projects in numbers
- 333 water projects across Pakistan
- 235 RO (reverse osmosis) water filtration plants
- 50 solar-powered water pumps
- 48 hand pumps
The right solution for every community
RO filtration plants clean contaminated water and make it safe to drink. They are placed in villages, schools, hospitals and other public places where many families can use them. Our filtration plants also serve special places such as SOS Village Faisalabad and District Jail Faisalabad.
Solar water pumps use the power of the sun to pump water, so communities without reliable electricity still have running water and no fuel costs.
Hand pumps are simple, low-cost and easy to maintain, and bring clean groundwater to small and remote villages.
How we work
- Identify the need: we look for communities that have no access to safe drinking water
- Plan and install: we choose and set up the water solution that suits the community best
- Follow up: we check on each project so that families keep getting clean water
Clean water is the first step to good health. Every project protects children from disease and gives families a healthier future.
How you can help
You can sponsor a water filtration plant, a solar pump or a hand pump, or give any amount towards the program. Donate online or by bank transfer from our Ways to Donate page, or read more on our Clean Drinking Water program page.
