This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which cookies sarwarfoundation.org.pk uses, why we use them and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
In short: we only use the cookies our website needs to work safely, to process your donation and to remember simple preferences. We do not use cookies for advertising and we do not sell any information collected through cookies.

- 2. Why we use cookies

1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your computer, phone or tablet when you visit it. They allow the website to recognise your device, remember information about your visit and work smoothly from one page to the next.
Some cookies are removed as soon as you close your browser, while others stay on your device for a set period. Cookies placed by our own website are called first-party cookies. Cookies placed by another service, such as a video or payment provider, are called third-party cookies.
We may also use similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage, for the same purposes. In this policy we call all of these "cookies".
2. Why we use cookies
We use cookies to:
- Keep your donation basket and checkout working as you move between pages
- Process your donation securely
- Keep you signed in if you choose to create a donor account
- Protect our website and our donors from fraud, spam and harmful traffic
- Remember simple choices you make, so you do not have to make them again
3. The cookies we use
a) Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential for the website to work and cannot be switched off in our systems. Without them, you would not be able to make a donation online.
- Donation basket cookies (for example woocommerce_cart_hash, woocommerce_items_in_cart and wp_woocommerce_session): remember the donation you have chosen while you complete the checkout. They expire when you close your browser or within 48 hours.
- Account cookies (for example wordpress_logged_in and wordpress_sec): keep you signed in if you have created a donor account. They are removed when you log out or after a short period.
- Test cookie (wordpress_test_cookie): checks whether your browser accepts cookies.
b) Security cookies
Our website is protected by a firewall and security service. It may place a cookie on your device to confirm that you are a real visitor and not an automated program, and to block suspicious activity. These cookies do not identify you personally.
c) Preference cookies
Some features of our website may use cookies or your browser's local storage to remember simple choices, such as a message you have already closed, so that you do not have to make the same choice again.
d) Third-party cookies
- Payment provider: when you donate by card, you complete payment on the secure page of Mastercard Payment Gateway Services, which uses its own cookies to process the payment safely and prevent fraud.
- Embedded videos and maps: some pages show videos (for example from YouTube) or maps (for example from Google Maps). These services may set their own cookies when you play a video or use the map.
- Social media links: if you click through to our pages on Facebook, Instagram, X or YouTube, those platforms may set cookies on their own websites.
Third-party cookies are controlled by those companies under their own cookie and privacy policies.
4. Cookies we do not use
- We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies
- We do not sell or share information collected through cookies for marketing
- We do not currently use analytics cookies to track how visitors use our website
If we decide to use analytics in the future to improve our website, we will update this policy first.
5. How to manage and delete cookies
Most browsers accept cookies automatically, but you can change your settings to block or delete them at any time. You can usually find these settings in your browser menu:
- Google Chrome: Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies or Delete browsing data
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Settings or Preferences, then Privacy, then Manage Website Data
- Microsoft Edge: Settings, then Cookies and site permissions
- On mobile phones: open your browser settings and look for Privacy, Cookies or Site settings
Please note that if you block strictly necessary cookies, some parts of our website will not work. In particular, you may not be able to complete an online donation.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy if we change the cookies we use or if the law changes. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
