Pakistan's health system is lacking in the provision of basic medical facilities. For millions of families in rural Punjab, the nearest proper hospital is far away, and the cost of treatment is simply out of reach. Sarwar Foundation set out to change that.
Today we run two state-of-the-art hospitals where every patient is treated free of charge: Sarwar Foundation Hospital Rajana in Toba Tek Singh, opened in 2004, and Sarwar Foundation Hospital Chichawatni in Sahiwal, opened in 2009.
Our hospitals in numbers
- 3,347,189 patients treated: 1,423,529 at Rajana and 1,923,660 at Chichawatni
- 53,973 babies safely delivered
- 250 hospital beds: 120 at Rajana and 130 at Chichawatni
- 315 staff, including 45 doctors and 36 visiting consultants
- 45,785 laboratory tests done
Care under one roof
Both hospitals offer a full range of departments, so families do not have to travel to the city for treatment:

- Operation theatres and surgery
- Diagnostics and laboratory tests
- Dialysis
- Gynaecology and maternity care
- Cancer care
- 24-hour emergency service and ambulance
Reaching beyond the hospital walls
Alongside the hospitals, our teams run regular free medical camps in hard-to-reach villages. Eye camps have made 12,225 cataract operations possible, giving people their sight back, and 160,000 Hepatitis C patients have been screened and treated.
Every patient who walks through our doors is treated with dignity, whether or not they can pay.
A safe start for mothers and babies
Many of the women who come to us would otherwise give birth at home without any medical help. Our labour rooms, nurseries and maternity teams have helped nearly 54,000 babies come into the world safely, and give mothers the care they need before and after birth.
